Cornflower once grew wild among Persian wheat fields, which is how it got the Persian name 'wheat flower.' For centuries, people in Persian, Anatolian, and European folk medicine have used the brilliant blue petals. They're best known as a compress and eye-wash for tired, irritated eyes. The plant is cool, slightly drying, and mildly bitter, and it has long been paired with chamomile and rose in soothing eye and skin formulas.
